We all here at the Society would like to thank all of you that have responded so positively and are planning an Annual General Meeting for April 2010 for elections; but hope to have a meeting in March for those of you able to attend, details will follow.

We are keen to have new Members and we would like you to mention to anyone you know of the restart and pass on contact details.

1930's Dreamland

Like the previous articles, this article by Alf Beeching is about Margate in the 1930's. Taken fron the 2005 annual special it is about Dreamland Amusemant Park, soon hopefully to be reopened as a Heritage park.

That's entertainment - Leslie Fuller

This article from the Margate Historical Archives is a fine example of quality research. Published in the Winter 2005 magazine Volume 2 No 4 by our research team of Alf Beeching, John Williams and Pat Adams , it is about Leslie Fuller comedian who lived in Margate and who appeared in a number of films produced by British International Pictures in the 1930's .

Margate Operatic Society by Pamela Brisley - Wilson

This article for down loading was written by Pamela Brisley- Wilson for the Margate Historical Society archives and appeared in the January 2004 edition of Bygonne Margate Volume 7 No 1. Pamela as many of the older members of the society know, died early this year. Her articles were of special interest as they covered parts of Margate's History in the 1920's and 1930's in great detail, especially in the world of entertainment. This article I have reproduced is about some memories of her father and the Margate Operatic Society.
